Triplex Winning Numbers

The lottery game Triplex is run by Loto-Québec, a provincial government corporation charged with overseeing games of chance in an organised and systematic manner.
Lottery Corporations

Triplex lottery has daily drawings and costs CAD 1.00 per play. The likelihood of winning greatly depends on the prize and what you need to win it. For example the Grand prize requires 5 matching numbers and so has odds of 1 in 249,800 whereas to win ANY prize the odds are only 1 in 4.13.

Players should purchase tickets by 10.30 p.m., if they need to be entered for that day's draw. Following 10:30 p.m., they can buy tickets for the next day's draw.

Triplex is offered by Quick Pick play only, which means that numbers on tickets are generated automatically by the Loto-Québec computer system. The combination of jackpot size and payout for Triplex is impressive: with a hypothetical win rate of 57.8%, and a very attractive Grand Prize of CAD 20,000.

If you're wondering how Triplex got its name, there is a good reason. There are in fact three ways to win this Lotto: by matching numbers on the same line, or on different lines, or finally by matching NO numbers.

How to Play Triplex

Triplex can be played online or at a Loto-Québec retailer. The only option for selecting numbers is by Quick Pick (numbers generated by the Loto-Québec computer). A single ticket will display 15 digits in 3 rows of 5 numbers.

Each row of 5 numbers is drawn from a pool of 41 numbers (1-41) and the 3 rows are completely independent of each other. Therefore the same numbers may appear more than once on each row.

A participant wins if their ticket includes:

  • A horizontal line with 3, 4, or 5 matching numbers.
  • At least 4 MIX and MATCH Triplex winning numbers.
  • No matching numbers at all.

Odds of Winning

Odds of winning depend on your winning combination of numbers:

On the Same Horizontal Line

If you combine all of the 5 numbers that have been drawn on a single horizontal line, you will win the jackpot, which is worth CAD 20,000. The chance of winning this jackpot is 1:249,800. This category provides CAD 100,000 in prizes and accommodates up to five winners. If more than 5 players win the jackpot the total amount of CAD 100,000 will be divided proportionally according to how many winners there are.

If you have four of the five drawn numbers, you walk away with CAD 100 at odds of 1:1,388. The last award in this category is CAD 3. This belongs to the player who has three matching numbers to the five drawn numbers. At this level, the probability is 1:40.

Mix and Match From the 15 Numbers

In Mix and Match there are 5 possible winning combinations. If you match at least 8 of the 15 numbers, you'll receive CAD 1,000 and your chances of this are 1:29,515. To match 7 out of 15 your chances improve to 1:2,679 for which you can earn CAD 100. 6 digits will give you a prize of CAD 200, with a winning probability of 1:329. A prize of CAD 5 is awarded when you have 5 matching numbers, with odds of 1:58 and finally, for 4 numbers from 15 results in a payout of CAD 1 at odds of 1:15.

No Good Numbers

If you find that none of your numbers are listed in the latest results of Triplex, you earn a free entry and the odds are 1:8.

Payout

For online players — if the total amount of the prize(s) won in a single transaction is less than CAD 25,000, the prize(s) will be placed directly into your account. Prizes valued at CAD 25,000 or more (or any other amount designated by Loto-Québec), merchandise prizes, "participation télé" prizes, and annuity type prizes must be collected in person at a Loto-Québec location. If you bought your ticket at the local retailer you can claim your winnings of up to CAD 600 at a retailer. For greater prizes up to CAD 25,000 mail-in claims are preferred.

Play Triplex Responsibly

Gambling should be taken seriously by everyone, whether they gamble professionally or recreationally. It means keeping the game in perspective and restricting your involvement so that it has no negative impact on your job, mood, money, relationships, or self-esteem. Here are some common rules:

  • Set yourself a spending limit. Set a financial maximum and stop when you reach that limit. Consider any money you spend on gambling as an entertainment expense.
  • Don't risk money you don't have.
  • Set a time limit.
  • Don't play the lottery in isolation. Enjoy gambling socially with friends, as you would eating or doing other forms of leisure activity.
  • Set aside a portion of your winnings for other uses.
  • When playing the lottery, avoid drugs and alcohol as they might impair your judgement and influence your decisions.
