Owners of older Fords now have another option when their existing clutches die. A complete Centerforce I kit (P/N KCF522639) was recently introduced for 1977-1980 Ford F-100 – F-550 pickups, vans, and SUVs equipped with the 351M engine (1-1/16-inch/10-spline input shaft).
While a stock-replacement clutch is always an option, Centerforce incorporates 30-plus years of innovation and patented technologies into the OE-upgrade Centerforce I. This new early Ford kit uses the patented Centerforce centrifugal weight system to dynamically increases clamp load with engine speed while offering light pedal effort and smooth engagement. Full premium-material friction facings on both sides of the clutch disc increase holding capacity and longevity over stock. The Centerforce I system is engineered for applications with stock or mildly modified engines.
Centerforce has previously offered early Ford truck clutch components individually; they continue to be available this way. This new Centerforce I clutch kit includes pressure plate, clutch disc, new throwout bearing, an alignment tool, and new pressure plate bolts. Additionally, Centerforce offers an optional billet steel flywheel for this application (P/N 700290) to increase engine responsiveness. It also saves the hassle of resurfacing an old flywheel.
