We were invited to the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour at Glen Helen Raceway, San Bernardino, CA, USA on May 12th, 2012. and tomorrow morning (Saturday May 26, 2012) you’ll get to see the action live for yourselves! We sent our own photographer Tony Nuntasiri to go check out the white hot competitive action of this incredible performance!
The event at Glen Helen is especially exciting because X-Fighters hasn’t had a tour stop in the US since 2009, when it came to Fort Worth Texas. Crazy to think that for a sport that has its roots and progression based in the US! The course at Glen Helen is the biggest course in the Tour’s history. The course measures 300’ x 750’ (225,000 square feet), nearly two-and-a-half times the size of the next-largest Red Bull X-Fighters course. Packed within these dimensions is 60,000 cubic yards of dirt weighing 1.6 tons per cubic yard. This enormous area will feature more than 30 different riding options, including a step-down, a bowl-curved wall, a quarter pipe and a 160-foot jump. All of these features are going to give the best FMX riders in the world the opportunity to throw down their most difficult and progressive tricks.
Levi Sherwood won the most recent stop of the Tour in Dubai in April. After Cali, the tour will move on to Istanbul, Madrid, Munich and Sydney, where an overall winner will be chosen.
Also, since X-Fighters is part of the Red Bull Signature Series, it will be airing on NBC on May 26, at 11am PST. The Red Bull Signature Series bring these sports that few people get to see to the mainstream, a true display of the progression and athleticism that FMX has to offer coming straight into living rooms across America.
And of course we gotta have some girls! Check out the videos below and let us know your thoughts!
