Tune into World of X Games this Saturday, May 5 for the “WSL Surfing Stop #2 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach” show at 3 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on ABC.
The Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) returns to World of X Games for the second stop of the tour at Bells Beach in Victoria, Australia, as they go head-to-head in efforts to ring the prestigious bell at the 54th anniversary of the event. The settling of onshore winds presented prime conditions and plenty of action during one of the closest Finals in Championship Tour history. Both three-time World Champion Mick Fanning who last won the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event in 2014, and 2013 Bells Beach winner Adriano de Souza were relentless during the 35-minute round with smooth, seamless surfing. Other featured athletes include 2013 Bells Beach runner-up Nat Young and reigning WSL Champion Gabriel Medina.
On the women’s side, the current WSL CT leader and three-time defending Bells Beach winner Carissa Moore attempts to defend her lead in a close heat against 21-year-old phenom Tyler Wright. Wright also faces off with reigning World Champion Stephanie Gilmore and currently ranked number two on the Championship Tour, Courtney Conologue who pushed herself to her limits during round three and narrowly missed an accident on a hazardous inside section with rocky reef.
